Renee Anderson

I believe that what we discover on the mat divinely transfers into life off of the mat. Yoga found me 15 years ago when my life took a chaotic turn, and I couldn’t figure out up from down. At the relentless nudgings from my yogi friend, I reluctantly stepped into a hot Bikram yoga studio hoping, at the very least, to release a little stress. Unexpectedly, I stepped out feeling a deep calm I hadn’t quite known before. Immediately hooked, I kept returning, and as I persisted, the calming grew. The clarity grew, and in time, I came to feel grounded and centered in my life once more. Yoga led me back into balance and into a deeper awareness of how vital a nourished heart-mind-body practice is in living a vibrant, healthFUL life. This is why I teach. I love working with and guiding others as they sort it all out on the mat and find seeds of wisdom to plant in their lives.

As a former high school instructor turned yoga teacher, I’m all for any learning that encourages us to reach beyond ourselves to grow. I received both my 200-hour RYT and 90-hour Yin yoga teaching certifications in Seattle, Washington. I’m an active member of Yoga Alliance and have been teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga styles for about  five years now. When not at The Yoga Loft, I can be found teaching in the Forest Meadows community in Murphys or in private settings, hiking local trails, traveling, and lounging in the sun with family and friends.

My classes invite students to release and renew through lively asanas of strengthening and lengthening, and intentional breath ties it all together. I can’t wait to meet up with you on our mats where we’ll dig deep and fly high in the spirit of discovery and well-being.

1 hour and 15 minutes
Suitable for most levels of students. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic (yang) styles of yoga, generally targeting the connective tissues in the body. This class offers passive movement that is challenged by holding supported postures longer to achieve deep flexibility. Yoga for the soul.
